Do you know yourself as well as you think you do?
A couple of years ago when I started my current job, we had to take a mandatory strengths finder test. My first thought was: “Really? There is NO way a test will tell ME what my strengths are! I may as well talk to a fortune-teller!” My supervisor gave me a book called Strengths Finder 2.0 by Tom Rath. There’s a packet towards that back of the book where you can access the test. I can’t remember how many questions there were, but I do remember it being timed — another reason for it be wrong!
Of course there were plenty of interruptions… I had already chosen the strengths I wanted to have, so anything contrary to that would be incorrect! Once you’re done taking the test, you’ll receive an email with your results. I jotted mine down so that I could prove how wrong it was!
As time went on, I realized that I have a hard time living in the moment because I’m always thinking about the future– Futuristic!. I live by a to-do list and I need to check things off to feel accomplished, which also fuels my fire to do more!– Achiever! Though I’m a realist, I can always find a reason to rejoice!- Positivity! Knowledge is power! Learning new things adds a little pep to my step, (especially in a pair of cute shoes). Don’t worry, I love passing on what I’ve learned!– Learner! I’m always willing to volunteer. Unfortunately, “no” is a word I rarely use. —Responsibility!
If you haven’t already, find your strengths! Not only will it help you put your best foot forward, it’s also a good way to learn how work well with others!
I need to re-do my strengths quest. I can’t remember what I was when I took it 2 years ago. Hmmmm…
